Support Help a London Child This Christmas
LBC 97.3's charity Help a London Child supports London's children and young people experiencing abuse, homelessness, disability, poverty and illness.
This Christmas, we're focussing on homelessness. This is the coldest time of year and for many young homeless people, there will be no carefully-wrapped gifts or warm, comforting food on Christmas day. Just a terrible feeling of loneliness and the constant threat of violent attacks or serious illness.
We're supporting Centrepoint who provide housing and support for over 1,200 16-25 year olds every year, helping them into work and a home of their own. It also gives homeless young people a voice through the Centrepoint Parliament.
- 80,000 young people experience homelessness in the UK every year.
- One in every 100 young people in the UK experiences homelessness every year.
- A quarter of the young people that Centrepoint supports have slept rough.
- One in five young people that Centrepoint supports have been in care.
A donation of just £5 could provide Christmas dinner. To a young person this might be the first warm, nutritious meal they may have had in a long time and at the coldest time of year.

Every penny counts. Thank you.
Read an emotional account of what it's like to be a young homeless man on the streets of London.
"I ended up sleeping on the streets and under bridges in London for eight months. I became used to it. I learned who to avoid and who was worth my time. Even after all this time, I didn’t know who to ask for help."
