What ensures that Finchley stands out is the old mixed in with the new when it comes to its shops. We love the fact that you can find small independently-owned gems like Alligator Books sitting along side larger chain stores. We trawled the area in search of the best shops and eateries for a daytime visit.
Once famed for its Hog Market, it's no surprise that Finchley's markets are hard to beat. They are a real treasure with tons of bargains to trawl. Head down to Finchley General Market in Lodge Lane which operates on a Friday with over 100 stalls for a unique shopping experience.

If you are in the area, make sure that you don't leave without stopping off for something to eat at Nahling. This little Thai restaurant has simple but stylish decor and the staff are prompt and attentive. All in all, it’s a haven of Thai scrumptiousness in the midst of a bustling North London high road.
