Teenage Girl Indecently Assaulted On Amersham Train

Wednesday 9th July 2014

British Transport Police officers are asking for the public’s help after a 16-year-old girl was indecently assaulted on a train to Amersham.

Do you recognise this man?

It happened on on Saturday, 25 May on the 10:39pm Harrow-on-the-Hill to Amersham service.

Detective Constable Chris Church, leading the investigation, said: “At around 11pm the 16-year-old victim, from Buckinghamshire, was sitting in an almost-empty carriage when a man sat next to her and began to touch her inappropriately. When the girl moved to another part of the train, the man followed her and sat close by again.

Do you recognise this man?“This was an incredibly frightening experience for the girl, and one that only stopped when another passenger stepped in to check if she was alright. At this point, the man fled the train at Amersham station.”

The incident was first reported by a witness, but the victim contacted officers after police appeal posters were put up at local railway stations.

DC Church added: “Who is the man in the pictures? That’s the question that I need local people to help me answer. I think he might have vital information that could greatly assist this investigation. If you recognise him, or have any other information, please get in touch.

“British Transport Police takes sexual offences on the rail network very seriously and will always fully investigate all incidents reported to us.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40, or text 61016, quoting reference ESUB/B6 of 08/07/2014. Information can also be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
