The Environment Agency says property flooding is expected, with more than 30 homes expected to be affected.

200 warnings are in place across Britain. The North-west of England and Wales felt the worst of the weather last night.

Anthony Perry from the Environment Agency says it will take a while for people to sort out the mess left behind.

He told LBC 97.3: "They are going to be clearing out their homes and trying to get them back to normal. It's going to take longer to dry the properties out, because central heating systems have gone.

"It looks as though the situation is going to get better. At the moment, it looks as though we're in for more of a colder spell, so I think generally for the whole country, it's looking as though it's an improving situation."

The A127 in Essex is closed going out of town from the M25 due to flooding, leading to huge travel problems on the motorway.
