The Busker Who Takes Credit Card
A busker raised £2,500 for LBC's official charity... even though he decided not to collect any cash.
On Thursday 27th August, Peter Buffery used a specially-designed guitar - with contactless technology - for passers-by on the South Bank to make donations to Help a London Child.
His specially designed guitar is fully equipped with contactless technology, so listeners could make a donation by holding pre-paid contactless cards, provided by Barclays and Barclaycard, over the head of the guitar.
Barclays and Barclaycard loaded each contactless card with £5 and raised £2,500 from people passing the Royal Festival Hall.
Help a London Child provides financial support to grass-root projects working with London’s less advantaged children and young people. Nick Ferrari is an ambassador to the charity.
