The New Display To Help You Find A Seat On A Bus
Monday 23rd June 2014
Transport for London are trialling exciting new technology that shows you which seats are free on the top deck of a bus.
The new screens, situated next to the driver, uses a simple graphical design to show how many available seats there are upstairs on a double-decker.
The simple idea uses CCTV to scan which seats are available and will put an end to that awkward moment when you poke your head upstairs, only to see that there is nowhere to sit.
TfL gave a sneak peek at the screen at their event on Regent Street yesterday to celebrate the Year Of The Bus.
Another new feature is a GPS-powered map, showing exactly where you are on the route and predicted arrival times.
Neither of these are utilising the very latest technology, but should both help to make riding on a bus around London an easier experience.
