Day 1: Depart UK for Kathmandu
Day 2: Arrive Kathmandu
Day 3 : Kathmandu – Pokhara
Today we depart Kathmandu for Pokhara, journeying the fun way! Breakfasting en-route, then we drive alongside the Trisuli River. Whilst observing the thundering rapids you will be able to relax and enjoy the views of deep wooded valleys and high waterfalls.
Day 4: Trek to Ghalegaon
We wake early and meet our Sherpa guides and cooks, then drive to the trek start point. We set off on our trek along the valley towards Tallokot. We start out following the Seti Nadi River; our path meanders through rice paddies and small villages. As we gradually climb, we can take in beautiful views of terraced fields and small villages perched on the hillsides. The views from the top make the final climb to the camp worth while!
Day 5: Ghalegaon – Tara Top
The journey of today takes us higher through alpine meadows and rhododendron forests. Our path takes us steeply up to the grassy wooded knoll of Tara Top where we are rewarded with a 360° view of most of the Annapurna massif, including the monolithic hulk of Lamjung Himal and the famous fishtail peak of Machupuchare. The Himalayan foothills of central Nepal drop away before us towards the Ganges and the Indian plains. We camp here enjoying, in clear skies, a sunset like no other.
Day 6: Tara Top – Parju
Our day starts with the sight of the sun rising over the peaks, illuminating the spectacular views surrounding us. We descend to the picturesque Gurung village of Parju, set before a backdrop of snowy peaks. We camp at the edge of the village in a large open area. This evening, you can head off and explore the village of Sikles not far away, or just relax in the high pastures for the late afternoon.
Day 7: Parju – Lamakhet
Our destination today is the small village of Lamakhet. We start
the day with a tough and long descent along a stepped track that drops
into the valley through terraced fields and a small village. From the
valley bottom we follow a path to Setigaon and then continue descending
along the Mardi Khola River. Lunch on the river bank may give rise to a
refreshing dip. We can there enjoy breathtaking views along the way,
including that of Annapurna II with its huge icefall and glacier
marking the origin of the Mardi Khola River. We continue down the river
valley to our beautiful campsite set on the banks of the river for our
last night under the stars.
Day 8: Lamakhet – Pokhara
Breaking camp for the last time, we have a half-day’s trek that takes us to the edge of the Pokhara valley. A steep initial climb along a good track then leads to a descent before a twisting path takes us into a valley bottom. After lunch we walk a short distance along the valley floor to meet our awaiting transport and return to Pokhara. Tonight we can enjoy our celebration meal and a cold beer!
Day 9: Pokhara – Kathmandu
We leave Pokhara and take a short and very scenic flight back to Kathmandu, where you are free to enjoy some of the sights, sounds and smells of Kathmandu, visiting areas like the central Durbar Square, packed with stupas and palaces. You can visit the atmospheric Buddhist temples of Boudhanath and Swayambunath and the riverside Hindu temple complex of Pashupatinath. In the evening you can haggle for your souvenirs at the many shops and markets.
Day 10: Free to explore or shop until it’s time to head back to the airport for our flight to the UK.
Day 11: Arrive back in UK.
