Thursday 21st May 2014

Police have arrested two men on suspicion of murder after a man's body was found in New Barnet last week.Antonio James Tammaso Antonio Tommaso. Picture: Met Police

39-year-old Antonio Tommaso was found dead after a flat fire in New Barnet.

His death was initially thought to be non-suspicious.

However, a post-mortem examination found he had died from stab wounds several days before the flat was set alight.

Two men in their 30s are being held in a north London Police station.

DCI Glen Lloyd of the Met Police is appealing for the public's help in this investigation.

He said: "We believe following Mr Tommaso's murder, the suspect or suspects came back to the flat two to three days later and set fire to the property.

"We would like to hear from everyone who knew Mr Tammaso to build an understanding of who he was. Who did he socialise with? Who would he be seen with?

Any witnesses or anyone with any information are asked to call the incident room on 020 8345 3985 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
