Two PCs Cleared Of Racism May Face Misconduct Charge
Friday 30th November 2012
Two Scotland Yard officers cleared of racially-aggravated harassment could still face disciplinary action.
In court yesterday, constables 36-year-old Kevin Hughes from Brentwood and David Hair, 42, were both also found not guilty of using threatening words or behaviour to cause alarm and distress
LBC 97.3 reporter Tom Swarbrick reveals: "PC Hughes admitted saying a black man looked like a monkey but said it had nothing to do with his race and he was pointing him out during a discussion about evolution.
"Both the officers were suspended following the allegations, and Scotland Yard is now considering whether to take disciplinary action."
The police watchdog says they may have a case to answer for gross misconduct.
