Harman: Ed Right To Pose With Sun And Right To Say Sorry
Monday 16th June 2014
Harriet Harman told LBC that Ed Miliband was right to pose with The Sun, but also right to apologise for it.
The Deputy Labour leader gave the unusual backing of her leader as she announced she is starting a monthly phone-in on LBC.
Ms Harman will present an hour-long show with Iain Dale every month, becoming the first Labour MP to answer questions from the public on air.
In her first show, a caller questioned the former Cabinet Minister over Miliband's apology for posing with The Sun. And her answer certainly seemed to confuse the listeners.
She said: "He stands by his decision to do it, but he also recognises the depth of the feeling that there is in Merseyside.
"He was right to pose for it and he was right to recognise.
"I don't think it did show him as a weak leader."
Ms Harman will be back on LBC on Monday 8th September and Monday 14th October 2014.
Speaking about her new show, Ms Harman said: "I'm delighted to be taking part in a regular phone-in with Iain Dale on LBC – the station which refreshes parts of the country other stations cannot reach.
"LBC opens up the airwaves to people all over the country and lets them question and challenge politicians of all parties."
