Mugger Chokes Man Unconscious To Steal Rolex
Wednesday 20th May 2014
Watch the chilling moment a mugger knocks a man unconscious by strangling him, then steals his Rolex watch in central London.
WARNING: Some viewers may find content in this video disturbing.
The video, released by Met Police, shows the 24-year-old victim turning around, and the suspect placing his arms across his throat and squeezing.
At this point, the victim drops to the ground unconscious, allowing the suspect a few seconds to rip the victim's watch, a £5,000 Rolex, off his wrist and run off.
Police say the 24-year-old student had been out for the night and was
walking along Regents Street towards Oxford Circus, just before 4am last Saturday.
The suspect approached him and the pair began chatting.
Detective Constable Michael Heaney said: "The
suspect targeted his victim carefully, choosing someone who was a bit
the worse for wear after a night out, alone and smartly dressed.
"The method he uses is not something we have seen before in this area and is a concern. Had the suspect applied more pressure the victim could have been far more seriously injured. As it was, he was just badly shaken.
"We are asking anyone with information to please come forward - do you recognise the suspect? Did you see him running from the area after the robbery?"
The suspect is described as of Arab appearance (he told the victim he was Algerian) and wearing a dark baseball-type jacket, dark blue jeans and a black baseball cap. He was bald with stubble, 5ft 8ins and of muscular build.
