WATCH: Man Narrowly Avoids Pavement Fireball

Friday 26th April 2013

This is the moment when a man was almost engulfed in a fireball on a quiet street in Pimlico.

A shocking video was uploaded to YouTube yesterday, showing the man narrowly avoiding the gas explosion on Pimlico Road at around 10.30am.

The explosion, one of three to happen in the area, is believed to have been caused by a burst power cable.

The video was recorded by resident Charlie Brook, who lives in a flat opposite the explosion.

It shows a man talking on his phone next to a hole in the pavement, where there had just been an explosion. He then runs away after a second explosion as flames shoot up from the ground. A third explosion took place after Ms Brook stopped filming.
