WATCH: Police Search For Man Filmed Swinging Dog

Friday 1st August 2014

Police are searching for a man who has been captured on camera SWINGING a small Chihuahua  on a lead over his head

Footage showing a man swinging a dog over his head emerged today as police launched an appeal for anyone with information to come forward.

The video, taken around 6 pm July 31, shows a man in a blue shirt first walking the dog, a Chihuahua, and then swinging it over his head as he walks along Julians Road in Stevenage, Hertfordshire.

The dog, which was attached to a lead, does not appear to be harmed and continues along the road seemingly unscathed.

Hertfordshire police became aware of the video after it was posted on Facebook and say they are taking the matter very seriously. The Hertfordshire Constabulary are trying to trace the origins of the footage and are looking to speak to the witness who filmed and uploaded the video to Facebook.

PC Lindsey Cox said: “No animal deserves to be treated in this way and we are taking this matter extremely seriously. This is being treated at this stage as an incident of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.”

Police say the dog was unharmed and later returned to its female owner, but that they still wish to speak to the man in the video.

Anyone with information is urged to call PC Cox via the Herts Police non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference number E1/14/4685 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
