WATCH: Woman In Heels Dragged Up Escalator
Tuesday 11th December 2012
This is the embarrassing moment that a woman was dragged all the way up an escalator after getting her high heels caught.
The footage was filmed in April 2012 and the woman was lucky to escape injury after the awkward fall at Euston Station.
It comes from a new video, released by Network Rail, as part of their seasonal campaign for rail safety.
In a year from April 2011 to March 2012, 1,120 people fell down the stairs, 900 slipped on platforms and 512 took a tumble down an escalator.
Robin Gisby, Network Rail's MD for Network Operations, said: “A combination of more people carrying Christmas shopping, trailing wheelie suitcases, wet and windy weather and people travelling late after festive parties, make December a time where we see more people take a tumble.
“We don’t want to see anyone hurt at our stations so we’ll be doing what we can to keep concourses dry and clean and signposting lifts clearly for those with heavy luggage.
“Please plan ahead so you don’t end up rushing to catch your train - falling over could be a miserable end to an enjoyable evening.”
The Network Rail video also includes footage of women falling over while rushing and swinging around poles at Leeds Station.
