What is exactly opposite London on the globe?

Question

If you push a pencil through an apple it will come out directly at the opposite point. If you did the same with Trafalgar Square through the Earth, where would it come out?
Paul, Wimbledon

Answer

** Definitive **
Name: Roger, Bromley
Qualification: Common sense
Answer: It’s about 50.5 degrees north of the equator and almost on the Greenwich Meridien line. So the opposite of that will be 50.5 degrees south of the equator and on the Date line at 180 degrees. Which is in the ocean south of New Zealand.
(James O’Brien: About 550miles south east of Dunedin according to our texts.)
