When does a village become a town?

Question

A city is a city because it has a cathedral, so what is the difference between a village and a town?
Karen, Mortimer

Answer

** Definitive **
Name: Sally, Worcester Park
Qualification: A leaflet
Answer: It’s simply to do with population. I used to live in Doncaster and they went for city status in 2002, but didn’t make it as the church wasn’t tall enough. But they gave details of what it takes for a village to be a town and a town to be a city.
