Where were the Battle of Waterloo dead buried?
QuestionI often go to military burial grounds. What happened to the hundreds of dead at the Battle of Waterloo?
** Definitive **
Name: John, Eltham
Qualification: Studied Waterloo for years
Answer: They were buried on the field when the battle ended. It was 6pm and heavily raining, so they knew they had to get rid of the bodies as quickly as possible, so they dug large pits and buried indiscriminately on the battle field. Tourists stated they couldn’t go there without a hankerchief over their noses to hide the smell.
