Why Are Dogs' Noses Sometimes Wet?

I have a dog: when she is asleep her nose is dry but when she is awake it is wet - why?

Answer: Dogs lick their noses to keep them wet as they don't have hairs in their noses so it stops the dust going up - humans have hairs to do this. When they are asleep they're not licking their noses.
