Why are foreign eggs white, but ours brown?
Question
One my five-year-old asked that I couldn’t answer: On holiday, all the eggs were white, but back here, they are brown. Why is there a difference?

Answer
** Definitive **
Name: Alan, Richmond
Qualification: Chickens breeder
Answer: It’s all down to breed – different breeds lay different coloured eggs. Welsummers lay brown speckled eggs, some leghorns lay coloured eggs which usually go from brown to green, Light Sussex lay light brown eggs and as a rule, white eggs come from white chickens. There can be a crossover with interbred chickens. In America, it’s rare to find anything other than white eggs.
