Why are knives longer than forks?

knife-fork.jpgQuestion

One from my five-year-old daughter: why is a knife longer than a fork?
Justin, Crayford

Answer

** Definitive **
Name: Mark, M25
Qualification: None, just common sense!
Answer: The knife and fork start off the same length on the press. But when they put the curves on the fork, that shortens it and therefore the fork appears shorter.
