double rainbowWhy are rainbows curved when the rain falls down straight?
Gary, Potter’s Bar

Answer

** Definitive **
Name: Elizabeth, Enfield
Qualification: Rainbow warrior
Answer: Each raindrop acts as a prism and splits the light into bands of colour. As you’re looking, each prism will give you a different colour of the rainbow and each is at a different angle – red higher, yellow lower etc. And it organises it into an arc.
