My three-year-old son asked and I couldn’t answer: why didn’t large sea reptiles die with the dinosaurs? Sharks pre-dated dinosaurs, but they survived.

Answer: A meteorite hit the planet and sent out dust particles into the air, blocking the sun. Animals that survived will have adapted to the colder climate. Most of the sealife would have died, other than those swimming deeper down, which got its heat from the core of the Earth.
