Why do carpenter's pencils have oval leads?

Normal pencils are have round lead, but carpenters pencils have oval leads. Why?Paul, Lightwater

Answer: Firstly, so they don’t roll off the work bench. Secondly, it’s a thicker lead, so you get a better line to saw. It lends itself to drawing straight lines better.
