Why do pregnant women's noses change shape?

Question

Why does the shape of a lady’s nose change when she’s pregnant? I’ve seen newsreaders’ nostrils flare slightly.
Michael, Swansea

Answer

** Definitive **
Name: Tim, Woolwich
Qualification: My girlfriend’s nose
Answer: When my partner was pregnant, she was rushed to hospital because her nose, hands and feet swelled up. We asked why and the doctor said there was a large amount of blood vessels in the nose, hands and feet and when you’re pregnant, there is an increase in blood flow, causing those to increase slightly in size.
