Why does drinking alcohol make you dehydrated?

Question

How much alcohol can you drink without getting dehydrated? If I diluted by beer, would I still get dehydrated?
Alan, Chester

Answer

** Definitive **
Name: Tracy, Brentwood
Qualification: Nurse
Answer: Once you start drinking alcohol, the hormones released from the pituitary gland and the brain, an antidiuretic hormone is immediately suppressed. So that’s why you urinate more when you drink – the ADH hormone helps conserve the water in your body.  Therefore, the more you drink, the more dehydrated you get.
