Answer: Water from a tap is purified in one of two ways. You can shine an ultra-violet light on it, which is short lived. So most water is chemically-purified by small amounts of chlorine, chlorine peroxide, ozone etc. We can’t smell it, but cats can and they don’t like it. Cats prefer rainwater, which isn’t purified. I’m not sure why they would prefer the bathtub
