Why does paper curl when you write on it?
QuestionIf you write a lot on one side of paper, it will curl noticeably. Why does that happen?
** Definitive **
Name: Jill, Isle of Wight
Qualification: Used to work for photocopying company
Answer: When paper is made, it dries on enormous racks, which means that it has a natural curl to it. So when you write on it, it brings back up that natural curl. If he only wrote on the back, he wouldn't see that curl. When you load paper into a photocopier, you need the curl to go in the direction of the copier route.
