Why don't bakers list ingredients on loaves?

Question

I buy a loaf of bread from bakers and my husband thinks it’s loaded with salt, but you can’t find out. Why don’t bakers have to list ingredients on their products?
Jane, Grays

Answer

** Definitive **
Name: Stephen, Barnes
Qualification: A friend of mine asked the same question
Answer: The British Packaging laws say that only items that are pre-packaged need to contain a list of ingredients that are in that package. If you sell it loose with no pre-packaging, you don’t need to. Hence, loose loaves, sweets and butchers sausages don’t need ingredients.
