The American flag always has the stars in the top left, but on military uniforms, it’s on the top right. Why?Rob, High Wycombe
Answer
** Definitive **
Name: Jeff, Bromley
Qualification: Common sense
Answer: It's on the serviceman's right sleeve only, so you can only see it if
you’re standing to his right. Therefore, if you were looking at it, it
would look correct. Think of the shoulder as a flagpole.
Name: Ron, Edmonton
Qualification: US Army veteran
Answer: It’s reversed as it means the troops are advancing forward into battle and not backing down. It’s supposed to be good for moral.
(James O’Brien: You may be right and you can’t get more definitive than a US Army veteran, but I’m really not sure about that!)
