Ireland's moist and mild climate is perfect for growing lush green grass, indeed with the longest grass growing season in Europe it is the grass capital of Europe! And with cattle reared on a natural grass diet almost all year round it’s no wonder that the beef produced in the Emerald Isle has a reputation for superb taste, just as nature intended.
When buying beef, make sure it has the stamp of approval from the Irish Food Board's quality assurance scheme. For tips, recipes and great information on which cuts to use when cooking, visit www.irishbeef.co.uk

Win a luxury cooking weekend in Ireland
To celebrate St Patrick’s Day (March 17th), we've teamed up with irishbeef.co.uk to offer two lucky couples the chance to win a luxury cookery weekend at one of Ireland’s leading cookery schools - Ballyknocken Cookery School in Co. Wicklow. Budding cooks will be able to experiment with local ingredients and learn some traditional Irish cookery skills, as well as being able to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
The prize includes return flights to Dublin, transport to Ballyknocken, with accommodation at the Victorian farmhouse at Ballyknocken House and a weekend cookery course of your choice. We've also got two hampers packed with speciality Irish food and drink for two lucky runners up.
To be in with a chance of winning, listen out for your cue to call the studio on March 17. We'll be choosing someone at random to come to air and answer an Irish themed question. Get it right to win the prize, good luck!
