Police are investigating claims a man was bitten by a woman on the London Underground.

A video was posted online nearly a year ago but officers say it has only just been brought to their attention.

It appears to show a woman being blocked into a corner of a tube carriage by a man's arm, which she then appears to bite. It then triggers a huge row in front of uncomfortable passengers.

The train pulls into what looks like Kings Cross and the man shows the bite mark to London Underground staff.

It has been viewed more than 12,000 times.

Detectives are trying to trace those involved in the altercation.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: "We are aware of the YouTube video, which was uploaded on 18 July 2013 and was recently brought to our attention.

"We believe this incident took place on a London Underground train near Kings Cross St Pancras station and we're keen to hear from any of the people involved.

"We are currently working to establish when the incident took place and what offences have occurred.

"Everyone has the right to travel without fear of abuse or threatening behaviour and BTP takes this type of offence extremely seriously."
