Woman Charged Over Croydon Tram Racist Rant

A 34-year-old woman has been charged after a video allegedly showing her racially abusing fellow passengers on the tram went viral on the internet.

<a class='autolink' href='/croydon-news-29624'>croydon</a> tram experienceThe clip, viewed more than two million times since being uploaded to YouTube on Sunday, shows a woman sitting with a child, shouting at fellow passengers on the Croydon-to-Wimbledon Tramlink.

Emma West, of New Addington in Croydon, is has been charged with a racially-aggravated public order offence.

She was arrested on Monday and appeared before Croydon Magistrates' Court later on Tuesday morning.

The clip, filmed on the Croydon to Wimbledon Tramlink, shows a woman with a toddler sitting on her lap swearing and abusing passengers. She tells one: "You are not British," and "go back to where you came from."
