Unconcious Woman Hit By Moped Has Handbag Stolen
Wednesday 11th June 2014
Met police are trying to identify a man after a woman, having been hit by a moped, had her handbag stolen while she lay unconscious in the road.
The victim, who is in her 20s, was involved in a collision with the moped which was being used as a getaway vehicle following a smash and grab at the Dorchester Hotel in the early hours of yesterday morning.
The woman had been crossing the road in Cambridge Circus at the time. She was thrown around six feet into the air before landing 20 feet along the road. The moped did not stop at the scene.
Whilst laying injured the woman, who had been carrying a brown leather bag containing her purse IPod and other personal possessions, was approached by a man who was then seen making off with the bag.
London Ambulance service took the woman to a south London hospital with leg injuries. She has since been discharged.
Detectives are keen to trace the man who is described as being white, in his mid 20s, with short dark hair, carrying a black and white Nike rucksack and a sleeping bag.
They don't believe that this man is connected to the suspects wanted in connection with the robbery at the Dorchester but they retain an open mind about this.
Earlier today detectives released images of the suspects wanted in connection with a smash and grab, which took place just after 1.30am.
Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
