Mary Brandon was at the Notting Hill Carnival on Monday when a man grabbed her bottom. She pushed him away, but was then punched in the face.
She then had to spend nine hours in the local A&E department, where they treated her eye and nose.
Ms Brandon wrote on Facebook: "I'm so pissed off that this man thought it was OK to hit me because I said no to him. A woman should be able to leave the house without fear of being sexually assaulted. And she should be able to defend herself without being put in hospital.
"The saddest thing about this for me was discussing with my friends afterwards whether in future itís best not to do anything at all. Maybe itíd be safer to just ignore it when someone invades your space and body. But I can honestly say I will always stand up to someone who thinks they can get away with this behaviour and Iíd take a punch again from this looser or any other looser who thinks itís OK to treat women like this.
"If you think it is OK then donít come to carnival next year. Youíre not welcome there or anywhere in our society. Bog off!"
Three people were stabbed over the two-day event and eight others received knife wounds. Two police officers were also injured as they tried to make an arrest yesterday.
