Young Victoria
While I'm not a huge fan of historical epics, this is a superior example of the genre. Written by Julian Fellowes (who won an Oscar for his screenplay for 'Gosford Park'), it's filled with drama, romance and top-notch performances.
Emily Blunt is perfect in the title role and is ably supported by the likes of Rupert Friend, Paul Bettany and Mark Strong.
The costumes, production design and cinematography are all gorgeous, but there's the odd "jumpy" scene which leaves you with the impression director Jean-Marc Vallée cut the film with a pair of blunt scissors!
