There are an estimated 1.3 million alligators in Florida alone and inhabit freshwater environments like swamps, marshes, lakes, rivers, and canals.

Adult males can grow up to 13–15 feet (4–4.5 metres) long and weigh over 450 kg.

Females are smaller, usually topping out around 9 feet (2.7 metres).
