Mr McKenna's father, Alan McKenna, has described the situation as "soul destroying". He told Australia's 9 News: "He deserves better. He deserves to come back here to South Australia and then all the family can have closure.
"It's just unbelievable. [Ms Mjaoual's] not answering any messages, phone calls, texts - nothing. I just want my lad back."
Close friend Mark Parsons, who has know Mr McKenna for 35 years, also told 9 News: "I still don't want it to be true. I'll never have a friend like Allen again."
Mr McKenna was raised in Harrogate before later studying at University of South Australia. At the time of his death, he was running a brewery and two other companies based in the UK.
The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs are reportedly working with both the Moroccan and UK embassies. There is no suggestion that Ms Mjaoual was involved in Mr McKenna's death.
