A cross party bill to force the Prime Minister to delay Brexit to avoid leaving the European Union without a deal on Friday has received Royal Assent and become law.

The House of Commons approved the legislation after it went through the House of Lords.

MPs agreed on two amendments put forward by peers, before the legislation received Royal Assent by the Queen.

Known also as the Cooper-Letwin Bill, the law prevents the UK crashing out of the EU on Friday 12th April without an exit deal.
