Chancellor Rishi Sunak has announced support measures to help self-employed people through the coronavirus shutdown.

The Chancellor said under the Self-Employed Income Support Scheme, the self-employed will receive a taxable grant of up to 80 per cent of their average monthly profits over the last three years up to £2,500 per month.

The number of deaths of UK patients who tested positive for Covid-19 now stands at 578, with over 11,500 confirmed cases.

Brits took to the streets at 8pm to #ClapForOurCarers, taking part in a huge round of applause to thank NHS and social care workers tackling the pandemic.
