The French grid operator RTE said parts of the country briefly lost power after outages hit Spain and Portugal on Monday afternoon.
Residents of Andorra and parts of France bordering Spain were said to be hit by the blackout, with further outages reported as far as Belgium.
The cause of the outage is not yet clear, but Portugal's national electric company believe a fire on the Alaric mountain in the south-west of France may be a possible cause, after it damaged a high-voltage power line.
RTE have so far given no further detail on the extent of the outage, but say the power has now resumed after the brief interruption.
The blackouts have caused entire airports and metro systems to come to a halt in Spain and Portugal.
