Kevin Maguire Lays Into 'Bloodthirsty' People Still Hunting On National Trust Land
Hunting with hounds is still allowed on trust estates, despite being banned in 2005, but Kevin just doesn't understand why anyone would want to do it.
Standing in for Andrew Pierce this morning, Kevin Maguire discussed news that National Trust members will debate a motion which would revoke all licences allocated to hunts.
The hunting of wild animals was banned in 2005 but was still allowed on National Trust sites - although this may not be the case for long.
Kevin asked his listeners what they think, but made sure to give his take on the so-called "sport". And he didn't hold back.
He said: "It's something about fox hunting, hares in particular, that really get me going. And it's, it is the bloodlust.
"It's the love of it, the fun of it, of setting hounds, snarling hounds, whipped into a frenzy, on a terrified, defenceless animal.
"And before anyone shouts 'fox and the hen coup' and it's a way of controlling pests, the truth is more foxes die on the roads every year that are killed by hunts.
"They do these hunts, they do it for fun. Why? Why do people do it?! Why is it allowed? It might be outlawed, but there is evidence that it is continuing"
