Coronavirus LIVE: Vaccine rollout alone 'not enough' to relax Tier system
Boris Johnson has given a Downing Street press conference after the UK became the first country in the world to have a clinically approved covid vaccine.
The Covid-19 vaccine from Pfizer/BioNTech was given regulatory approval on Wednesday and will be made available "from next week."
The Prime Minister spoke alongside Simon Stevens, Chief Executive of the NHS, and Jonathan Van Tam, Deputy Chief Medical Officer.
Earlier at PMQs, Mr Johnson said the vaccine will allow Britons to "reclaim our lives" and get the economy moving.
In other news, England has returned to a system of Tiered coronavirus restrictions as the second national lockdown comes to an end.
Non-essential shops, gyms, pubs and restaurants will be allowed to reopen for much of the country for the first time in four weeks.
