Police have launched a murder probe after a 19-year-old man was stabbed to death in a seaside town during the early hours of Good Friday.

Emergency services were called to reports of a serious assault on Belmont Road in Whitstable, on the north Kent coast, at around 2am on Friday.
The stabbing occurred near the town’s cricket and football clubs.
A 19-year-old male was found with injuries consistent to having been caused by stab wounds, Kent Police confirmed.
An air ambulance landed at the scene but despite the best efforts of medics, the youth was pronounced dead at the scene.
The force said a murder investigation was launched and officers are appealing for anyone with possible information to come forward.
A forensic tent was set up at the scene with Belmont Road in the town closed off while emergency crews worked.
A police spokesperson said: "Kent Police was called at 2.04am on Friday 3 April 2026 to reports of a serious assault on Belmont Road, Whitstable.
"Officers and paramedics attended and a 19-year-old boy sustained injuries consistent with stab wounds."
The town’s MP, Rosie Duffield, said: "This is extremely shocking and upsetting. I know the area well and incidents like this are incredibly rare in our community.
"I would urge anyone who witnessed the incident to contact Kent Police.”District councillor for Gorrell ward Clare Turnbull said:
"This a tragic loss of a young life and my heart goes out to the family and friends of the victim.
"I urge anyone with information to contact the police as soon as possible."
