Pakistan claims to have killed 40-50 Indian soldiers near the border with Kashmir in retaliation to strikes.

Tensions between the nuclear-armed neighbours have soared since gunmen killed 26 tourists in Indian-controlled Kashmir last month.

India struck parts of Pakistan and Pakistan-controlled Kashmir in response yesterday which is said to have killed 31 people.

Pakistan's information minister Attuallah Tarar said: "We have blown their [Indian] military installations on the de facto border."

He went on to claim Pakistan killed "40-50 Indian soldiers" along the de factor border between the Indian and Pakistani-controlled areas of the disputed Kashmir region.
