Teenage neo-Nazi sentenced for arson terror attack plan
A teenage neo-Nazi terrorist who identified arson targets in his home city has been locked up for six years.
The 17-year-old boy drafted his own manifesto, including a list of "areas to attack" in Durham.
His list included, schools, pubs and council buildings, with detailed descriptions of why they would make good targets.
He also wrote of his plan to conduct an arson spree with Molotov cocktails on local synagogues.
The handwritten documents were seized from his bedroom in March.
Police also found a collection of far right literature, as well as internet searches for firearms, explosives and knives on his computer and mobile phone.
After his arrest in March, police found him in possession of instructions showing to make bombs and the poison ricin.They also found he had distributed firearms manuals online by uploading them to a neo-Nazi website.
He was found guilty of preparation of terrorist acts between October 2017 and March last year.
The youth was also unanimously found guilty of disseminating a terrorist publication, possessing an article for a purpose connected with terrorism and three counts of possessing a document or record containing information likely to be useful to a terrorist.
It makes him the youngest person to be convicted of planning a terrorist attack in the UK.
The defendant alleged during the trial that he had no intention of carrying out any attacks and that he adopted a fake right-wing persona for "shock value".
During the trial, the boy described himself as a "natural sadist".
