Police and ambulance crews rushed to the Bullring Open Market after reports of two teenagers suffering injuries in a knife attack at the shopping centre.

Pictures showed police cars next to the Bullring Open Market, at the junction of the B4100 and Upper Dean Street.

West Midlands Police tweeted that they were called just after 3.30pm following reports of people being injured near the rear entrance of Selfridges.

The teenagers have been treated for serious injuries and taken to hospital for further treatment.

There is an increased police presence within the Bullring as police investigate what happened.

The Bullring would have been packed with Christmas shoppers visiting stores a week before Christmas.
