Spencer Kuvin told Tom Swarbrick that often the "initial story is not the truth".

Guiffre, 41, was found at her farm in Neergabby, Australia, where she had been living for the past few years.

She sued Prince Andrew for sexual abuse back in August 2021 - she claimed the Duke of York had sex with her when she was 17 and had been trafficked by Epstein.

Ms Giuffre and Andrew reached an out-of-court settlement in March 2022.

On Monday, Mr Kuvin said: "Statistics and research shows there is a much higher incident rate of suicide among childhood abuse victims, sexual abuse victims particularly.

"It would not be surprisng unfortunately if she ended up taking her life.

"What I would also say though is that with that case of Jeffrey Epstein and all of the people within his orbit,

"It just requires a certain amount of introspection and investigation to make sure that this was in fact what people are saying it is.

"I question everything and anything that has gone on in this case for many years because often times what we've found is that the initial story is not the truth.

'Skeptical and cynical'

Swarbrick also mentioned a tweet posted by Giuffre back in 2019 where she mentioned that she wanted it "publicy known that in no way, shape or form am I sucidal."

Kuvin responded saying he believes that that sentiment was "true at the time" amid the height of the investigation into Prince Andrew and Epstein.

“I'm not surprised that she would feel that way at the time, obviously with some of the health issues she’s had in recent years as well as some of the issues with her children, I think circumstances can certainly change.”

However, he added he always "skeptical and cynical".

The victims are "always skeptical of what the authorities say", he continued.

He said the circumstances surrounding the death of Epstein was “highly suspect” and that there has never been “complete and full openness” from the Department of Justice about it.

Ms Giuffre’s family statement said: "It is with utterly broken hearts that we announce that Virginia passed away last night at her farm in Western Australia.

"She lost her life to suicide, after being a lifelong victim of sexual abuse and sex trafficking."

Ms Giuffre was known for being one of the first people to call for criminal charges against Epstein.

'Unbearable'

The family statement continued: "Virginia was a fierce warrior in the fight against sexual abuse and sex trafficking. She was the light that lifted so many survivors.

“In the end, the toll of abuse is so heavy that it became unbearable for Virginia to handle its weight."

Ms Giuffre sued Prince Andrew for sexual abuse in August 2021.

She claimed the Duke of York had sex with her when she was 17 and had been trafficked by his friend - billionaire paedophile and disgraced businessman Epstein.

Prince Andrew has denied the claims and has not been charged with criminal offences.

Ms Giuffre and Andrew reached an out-of-court settlement in March 2022.

This reportedly included a "substantial donation to Ms Giuffre's charity in support of victims' rights".
