Woman in 80s stabbed to death as man arrested on suspicion of murder
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman in her 80s was stabbed to death outside her home.

Emergency services were called to an address on Red Lion Place in Plumbstead, southeast London, shortly before 9am on Wednesday.
Met Police officers attended the scene alongside medics from the London Ambulance Service where a woman in her 80s was located with serious injuries.
She was taken to hospital where she died shortly afterwards.

Police say another man was also threatened with a knife but did not sustain any injuries, and they believe the person arrested and deceased victim were known to each other.
A man in his 60s has been arrested on suspicion of murder after he presented himself to a nearby police station at around 9:10am.
Detective Inspector Dean Grice, who is leading on the Met’s investigation, said: "This is a deeply tragic incident, and our thoughts remain firmly with the victim’s family during this difficult time.
"Officers responded swiftly to the initial reports and worked closely with London Ambulance Service colleagues to provide immediate care at the scene.
"A prompt and coordinated investigation has now been launched to establish the full circumstances, and specialist officers are continuing to support the family throughout."
Detective Superintendent James Derham, who leads policing in the local area, added: "At this stage, we believe that this was an isolated incident and I want to reassure the community that there is no wider risk to the public.
