A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a woman who fell seven floors to her death from a block of flats in Hove.

The 52-year-old was taken into custody on Saturday after the woman in her 30s fell from Clarendon House flats.

Sussex police were called to the incident at 5.53am on Saturday morning.

The force said the police watchdog the IOPC had been notified "in view of recent police contact with the two people" who the force said were known to each other.

Local reports suggest a witness saw two police officers comforting someone outside the block of flats.

Surrounding streets were sealed off today and the rear entrance to the block of flats had been closed.
