Two teenagers arrested after 'racist coronavirus attack' on student in London

Two teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of attacking a student in a coronavirus-motivated crime.

During the attack, Jonathan Mok, 23, was told: “We don’t want your coronavirus in our country.”

Mr Mok, who is from Singapore, was attacked as he walked down Oxford Street in London at around 9.15pm on February 24.

He said the group beat him up when he confronted a group of men who had been shouting at him.

Two boys, aged 15 and 16 were arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated assault.

The 16-year-old was released under investigation and then 15-year-old was bailed until later this month.

The victim was left badly bleeding from his nose with a black eye, and a suspected fracture near the eye.
